Adiós Cometa: Un Destello de Luz  – Weekly Album Pick Y26/W11

What better way to wrap up this fantastic shoegaze week than by diving into the latest work from Adiós Cometa. Following the impact of their debut, Nuestras manos son incendios (2024), the Costa Rican outfit returns in 2026 with a sophomore full-length that doubles down on structural solidity and the expansion of their own boundaries.

In Un Destello de Luz, the group delves into that dreamlike atmosphere right from the jump with the instrumental “Y De Reojo, Un Resplandor”—an opener that soon makes way for “Luminosa,” revealing the band’s most post-rock-leaning side, featuring guitar riffs reminiscent of Madrid’s Toundra.

From this starting point, the record gravitates between introspection and raw power, featuring collaborations with Fin del Mundo on “El Mundo En Mis Brazos” and Encarta 98 on “Mala Memoria,” both deeply atmospheric tracks. Both pieces act as sonic havens that contrast with the more emotional “Candelaria,” where the group shows its most visceral side.

The work concludes with the epic “Victoria,” a perfect coda to a deeply emotional album.
