Placebo: From Worst to Best
Back in 1996, Britpop ruled the rock planet, grunge was fading out, and the late-century MTV invasion of pop-punk and nu-metal hadn’t yet arrived. Impassive and solid as a rock, there stood the “old reliable” of alternative rock. Placebo debuted with a canonical album, throwing the genre’s basic principles into a blender alongside introspective themes of drugs, sexuality, androgyny, and plenty of melancholy and infinite sadness.
